The List: A Right Fiction Podcast

Favorite Songs with Strings w/ Andrew Lipke (Composer, Producer, Arranger, Conductor, Vocalist, Multi-Instrumentalist)

Episode Summary

How do you take a good song and make it 10x better? You don’t put a trap beat with it, you don’t throw a random wall of sound on it, and you absolutely don’t throw the gated reverb drum sound on it (well… maybe sometimes). The real answer, however, is to add a wonderful string arrangement. Yes, that’s right, a string arrangement. The right string arrangement can help fill in all the emotional cracks in a song and give it the nuance and emotional lift it desperately needs. It can also enable you to strip away all the other instrumentation (like bass, drums, piano, guitar, etc.) that might get in the way of the emotional core of a song. In other words, it's the secret weapon for songwriters and producers in the know. Special Guest: Andrew Lipke (Composer, Producer, Arranger, Conductor, Vocalist, Multi-Instrumentalist) Andrew is a Philadelphia-based, South African born composer, producer, arranger, conductor, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and educator active in many styles across multiple genres. He’s also released seven self-produced albums of original music encompassing a wide variety of musical styles from early madrigal vocal music to aggressive hard rock. In addition to his own material Lipke has produced dozens of recordings for artists in the Philadelphia region many of them engineered by Lipke in his studio The Record Lounge. http://andrewlipke.com/ Episode Spotify Playlist - https://spoti.fi/3wLSsp5 www.rightfiction.com
