It is officially fall, my second favorite season. And with fall comes one of my favorite activities... hanging out by the campfire! You got the crackle of the warm fire, a blanket, some marshmallows, friends and family, and of course you got the music. You can’t just play anything by the campfire. You’ve got to match the vibes of the setting with the vibes of the music. To some people Jack Johnson is perfect for the vibes, while to other people maybe its CSNY or some jazz fusion. Not every campfire situation is the same and for those trying to set the perfect vibe, its important to be versatile. And that is what we are aiming to help you with today as we discuss our Favorite Campfire Albums and, hopefully, give you the tools you need to match any campfire scenario. Brendan is away this week so we have a guest today to help us out! Vince Tampio is joining us today to give his campfire music takes! Vince is a professional musician, arranger, composer, producer, engineer, and educator based in Philly. Vince has contributed to 75+ music and film productions and he arranges for and frequently performs with York Street Hustle (trumpet), You Do You (trumpet), and the John Byrne Band (trumpet, banjo). Vince founded the Philly Phatness horn section, which has recorded with regional, national, and international artists. He also serves as Musical Director and bassist with Phloyd – A Pink Floyd Tribute. he’s also an author! Putting out his book Chromatic Cell Permutations for Trumpet, a technical studies book that explores permutations of chromatic cells as performed on trumpet. His latest album, Adult Children has been recently released and is a full length instrumental jazz album informed by Hard Bop and inspired by Highlife.
